When it comes to these situations, we have a better chance of experiencing God's calm in our lives if we:
A) Accept what we cannot change.

SPOTlunch!!!

Yet another awesome SPOTlunch today was held at Lion's Choice. TheLaRowe's, Bradshaw's, Phillips', the Conrad's, and the Hurt's chowed down on some roast beef and 15 cent dip cones! Remember, no SPOT lunch next month as it is being replaced by the Christmas Shindig! (See below!)

Another reminder that the Shindig will be held on December 6th at the Hurt's. Bring an appetizer and we will have some great fellowship. Tye-dye optional.

The box still sits at the head of the classroom! We are donating goods to the Missouri Baptist Children's home. The list of needed items can be found earlier on the blog, or in the SPOTfolder every Sunday!

Calling Betty Crocker....

Let the baking begin!!! The cookie making session for the college care packages is this Saturday at 1PM. Bring your favorite cookie dough, and enjoy a bit of fun as we make the cookies for this annual project!! We are still actively seeking college student addresses. We passed around a list today, and update some of those addresses but can still use any addresses of students. An announcement was in the program today, so let's see how many college lives we can touch! If you know of any addresses you can email them to spotspot@gmx.com.

-Susan Hurt's secretary had a stoke yesterday. Pray for her and her family.
-Pray for the Christmas show that all are blessed!!
-Pray for the safety of all hunters throughout the season, as well as their travels.
-Rich Conrad had a tumor removed from his scalp area. All is well!!
-Liz Massey is doing much better after the removal of wisdom teeth!

Lesson Prep

Last week we discussed how to bring calm to the hurried home. The three mandates for accomplishing this are:
1. Maintain an attitude of forgiveness
2. Live within the boundaries of God's Word
3. Maintain an eternal perspective

This Sunday's video series is a continuation of last week's presentation. We will be presented with three additional mandates. The topic of discussion will center around the theme of "When All You Wanted Is Not Enough."

Here is something to think about in preparation for class: What does it mean to have a servant attitude?

SPOTlunch this Sunday

If you like a good roast beef sandwich and meaty conversation, you'll want to come to this Sunday's SPOTlunch at the Lion's Choice Restaurant on South Lindbergh Blvd. That's right, it's not Mexican and it's not hamburgers, just tasty roast beef and, in the spirit of our hurried lives, it is served really fast!

We'll assemble there after second hour. If you attend class regularly, you know SPOTlunch is an event that's always worth the trip! And if you're one of our associate members or just visiting, we'd love for you to join us so we can get to know you better!

CSM Parent Meeting

The Concord Student Ministries leadership team led a spirited meeting last Sunday.

The Christmas Party SPOT

Because actors and singers in our class will be attending another of the unending rehearsals for the Concord Christmas Show, we have adjusted the start time to 5 p.m. for the Christmas SPOT Shindig at the Hurt's home on December 6.

This way we can all enjoy the get-together, together! You can dismiss any earlier reports that Kevin will be wearing bell-bottoms. But what about love beads, tie-dye fashions and psychedelic lights?

There are more details to come, so check out the SPOTfolder when it passes this week, watch your email box and start looking through your yummy appetizer recipes.

We're also looking for a good Root Beer-nog mix or a list of ingredients for a refreshing root beer punch. Please email your best ideas to thespostspot@gmx.com.

College Care Packages

We'll be baking cookies on Saturday, Nov. 21, beginning at 1 p.m. to fill the voids in the lives of many Concord college students. The SPOTchefs will be seeking to fill not only their tummies, but that empty space in their mailboxes that can only truly be filled with packages from home.

Bring your prepared dough to the church kitchen and plan on a full afternoon of baking and taste-testing as the SPOTclass again sponsors the College Care Package ministry. We're currently seeking the names of Concord's college students around the country so we can send them goodies just in time for final exams.

PRAYER REQUEST

We have a prayer request for Doug and Susan Spitz. Doug's dad (Ralph) passed away yesterday (11/11) from his battle with cancer.
Visitation will be:

Friday, 11/13 - 4:00-9:00 p.m. visitation

Saturday, 11/14 -- 3:00 p.m. memorial service

-- 4 :00 p.m. a dinner at Concord

Parents Meeting Update!!!

While there were a large number of parents in attendance at the Nov. 8 quarterly CSM Parents' Meeting, we know not all SPOT parents could make it. Here's a brief summary of what was discussed and recommendations considered.



The primary topic of discussion was change to the CSM program implemented this fall.

* Jeremy/Sarah explained the new program is part of an overall strategy to provide more concrete Bible study options for students.


* The new CSM program is designed to provide options to all students at whatever their level of faith, but not to try to serve ALL students through ALL activities. They described a funnel with four levels of activities, each appealing to a narrower audience (based on spiritual maturity):
o Open and seeker-friendly events

+ Back-to-School parties

+ Retreats (Breakaway, Big Chill)

o Youth Worship

+ Wednesday nights at 6:30

o Bible study for youth

+ Sunday mornings

o Small Groups for youth seeking deeper Bible study in a relationship-building community


* The structure called for schedule adjustments and leadership changes.
o CSM leadership and older youth will lead worship for the foreseeable future.

+ Jeremy/Sarah want students focused on worship, not performance.

o Worship, not small groups, is now the focus of Wednesday night activity.

+ Small groups with universal membership became social activities, rather than relationship-building Bible studies.

While most parents endorsed and promoted the goals of the new stucture, and many said their students had benefited greatly from the changes, there are concerns:

* Many parents stated the changes were not well communicated to parents or students prior to implementation.


* New Wednesday praise band structure (CSM leadership/college students) is misunderstood.


o Jeremy/Sarah believe more mature leadership is needed.
o Some parents say their younger students feel unappreciated and rejected.





* Parents voiced concerns that the schedule changes result in several unintended consequences.
o Many small groups cannot find a suitable time to meet during the week.
o Parents with students in both Bible study hours cannot attend worship with all their children .
o Some 11th & 12th grade students in first-hour Bible study no longer attend worship services.

+ Students say they do not like the music in second service.

+ Jeremy/Sarah believe worship style should not be an issue.

o Some 6th-10th graders are coming only for second-hour Bible study and not attending worship.

+ Some parents who bring students for one hour attend second-hour worship only.

The meeting resulted in recommendations for changes to respond to some of these concerns.

* The 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Wednesday time slot will be available for small groups wishing to meet at that time.
o No other conflicting youth activities will be scheduled during this time (after completion of the Foosball Tournament now underway).

o Jeremy/Sarah will advise small group leaders of this option.


* A new location will be sought to enable 11th & 12th grade students to meet during 10:30 Bible study hour.
o SPOT class members volunteered to move to another location during 10:30 Bible study if no other suitable rooms are available.


* Jeremy/Sarah will send out a survey soon to parents seeking input on how CSM can best serve the needs of Concord students.


* Jeremy/Sarah will develop measures to gauge the success of various aspects of the CSM program. Among them:
o Attendance at CSM activities
o Percentage of high school graduates still attending a church regularly while away at college.

Jeremy and Sarah also shared plans for mission trips and other CSM activities:

* Middle Schoolers will work in various ministries in the St. Louis inner city and sleep over at church (June).
* High School students will work with Native Americans in South Dakota (June).
* Passion 2010, a conference geared to college students in Atlanta, will be open to a limited number of 12th grade students (January).

Lesson Recap

Continuing on with our video series on the Hurried Family, today we studied bringing calm to the hurried home. With this we had three mandates:

Mandate 1: Maintain an attitude of forgiveness. (Ephesians 4:32)
Mandate 2: Live within the boundaries of God's Word. (Psalm 119:1-2)
Mandate 3: Maintain an eternal perspective. (2 Corinthians 4: 16-18)

Everyone got a little something different out of today's lesson. God is really speaking to all through this series.

Shindig Correction!!!!

We have a time change on the Christmas SPOT Shindig at the Hurt's. Due to our classmates that are in choir, and the practices that are being held, the time has changed to 5PM on December the 6th at the Hurt's. This way we can all enjoy the get together. You can dismiss any earlier reports that Kevin will be wearing bell-bottoms.

SPOTlunch is next week after class. We will all be going to Lion's Choice on South Lindbergh. Hope to see you there!

Class Projects

Don't forget our current class projects:

Missouri Baptist Children's Home- The box is still in the classroom.

College Care Packages-We are actively soliciting names of out-of-town college students. We will be baking the cookies on 11/21/09, then sending them out!

As Gene mentioned in church this morning, the church (and our class) bring up a lot of projects to support this time of year. No one has to support ALL of them...just the ones that God has called you to!

Prayer Requests

-Mark Cotter's back is doing great! He's back to about 95%!
-Liz Massey had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed on Friday. Pray for healing and relief from the pain and swelling.
-Continued prayer for the Christmas show, and for the health of those involved. Also pray for those that come and see it. Pray for open hearts to Jesus and His knocking!
-Jim Meinhardt's grandson is home. He is jaundiced, and has to receive light treatment. Pray for good health!
-Hunting season starts soon. Pray for safety for those that participate in the sport.

Christmas is No Longer SPOTless

You asked for it, and now it's on the SPOT calendar - the first ever SPOT Christmas event. Plan on invading the Hurt's abode beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday December 6. Be sure to wear something that looks good under a black light as Kevin promises a 70s theme for the event.
Plan on bringing your favorite appetizer and we'll share a little holiday spirit, hopefully without leaving new SPOTS on the carpet.

(ed. note. Kevin didn't promise a 70's theme...he just noted that his home's decor was from then. He has been informed by his wife that that is absolutely incorrect. It is early 80's. :))

College Cookie Date!!!!

The baking date is on!!!! Cookies will be baked in preparation for mailing in the college care packages on Saturday, November 21st from 1-5 PM. We will be baking at the church. Bring your prepared dough for baking and fellowship. Kevin promises not to wear a chef's hat.

Christmas SPOT Fellowship!!

The class will be having a appetizer fellowship for Christmas on Sunday, December 6th from 1 PM to whenever. This will be held at the Hurt's home (provided you are not allergic to '70's decor!!!). This will be in place of a SPOTlunch in December due to the Christmas Show, and the holiday hubbub, bub. Join us for some fun and frivolity. Maps will be forthcoming. Birng an appetizer...and yourselves!!!

Camping Trip Update!!!!

It's official. The reservations are made. The SPOT camping trip is on June 11-13, 2010. It will be at Lottie's Rustic Retreat in Lebanon, MO. Photos of the house are here. This is not far from Bennett Spring State Park. There will be a float trip on the Niangua, trout fishing (for those who wish!), pond fishing.....just all sorts of fun. Lodging costs are as follows: House: $12 per person per night. Tent Campers: $2.50 per person per night...if electricity is needed (1 pad): $5 per night. Indoors lodging will be first come first reserved. We will start taking reservations the first part on next year!

Our Hurried Lives Continue

Don Robbins will be drawing some interesting perspectives from the next chapter in Tim Kimmel's video series on the Hurried Family.

We've learned that our our busy lives are reinforced by convenience and a need for speed. Fast food, drive thrus, expressways, DSL and broadband, lawn tractors, bullet trains, pay-at-the-pump. This only scratches the surface!

Can we possible slow down? Focus on the simpler things in life? Make time for God?

Oh, and don't forget Daylight Savings Time, designed to give us more daylight hours so we can do more stuff! However, perhaps sanity is returning to our hurried lives after all! DST goes away early Sunday morning and we go back to Standard Time. Turn your clocks back and enjoy an extra hour of sleep Saturday/Sunday! Come to SPOTclass rested and unhurried.

It was a cozy crowd at the second annual SPOTluck picnic last Sunday, Many thank to Director Kevin Hurt who got to the park early to make sure the dogs and burgers were ready when we arrived - but we really did miss lining up in front the of the grill and blowing on the coals in unison to spread the red glow.

The rain held off just long enough for us all to get our fill of the goodies under the shelter and spend a little time in fellowship. Ryan Perry took particular pleasure in the games.

SPOTclass Summer Activities Planned

SPOTclass will camp and float again in 2010! Three families participated in last year's weekend outing in southeast Missouri and we're hoping to double the numbers this year. Keep your calendars open the second weekend in June (June 12-14). It's the perfect weekend -- after school and before Father's Day.

The annual formerly Young Adult Concord Families Retreat at Windermere has been scheduled for July 9-12, 2010. (Windermere is located near Camdenton, MO on the Lake of the Ozarks.) Reservations and deposits are needed ASAP. For more information, contact Brenda Kirkpatrick, mkbk770813@yahoo.com.

The three inner needs all people have are:

Love-
-This is the fundamental drive for security.
-It gives us a sense of acceptance.

Purpose-

-It gives us a sense of affirmation.

Hope-
-This is the fundamental drive for strength.
-It gives us a sense of assurance.

The world wants to meet these needs in inappropriate ways:

Security:Money
Significance:Applause
Strength: Power-Control

Applications:
1. Give a family member a hug for 21 consecutive days.
2. Compile a family tree and teach your teens the history of their ancestors.
3. Get involved in a family project that serves or helps someone less fortunate.
4. Praise your spouse and children-in their presence-to someone else.
5. Help your teens with their homework.

Coats 4 Kids

Remember that the church is collecting both money and coats to send to the children of Dakota Sonshine Ministries in South Dakota from November 1 to December 1. For more information you can email Danielle at d_endejean@sbcglobal.net.

Concord Food Drive

Concord Church is having a food drive. You can help "Dress the Turkey" by donating at the church to both the Food Pantry and the Bosnian Food Pantry between November 1 and November 22. Items accepted include canned goods, boxed foods, cereals, non-perishables, and non-glass items.

As announced here on the blog previously, the 2nd Annual SPOT camping trip will be held on June 11-13, 2010. More details will be put forth later this week. Suffice it to say it will be awesome!

SPOTnik ALERT!!!!!! IMPORTANT!!!!

Brooks did some reconnaissance work and made a major discovery. The shelter we had booked at Fenton Park does NOT have a grill. So rather than ask for someone in the class to bring a Weber grill....THE PICNIC HAS BEEN MOVED!!! Not very far, in fact just across the street at Valiant Park. Valiant Park is at the intersection of Larkin Williams Drive and Valiant, right across the street from the original location (at the entrance to the Riverside subdivision)! Any questions just email!

SPOTnik This Sunday


The annual SPOTluck picnic aka SPOTnik is this Sunday at Fenton Park. This year we'll be in the Hitzert Shelter. The shelter is located between the main softball fields and soccer fields. Look for a map and directions on the class blog, www.thespotsspot.blogspot.com.

We might even get a look at Pastor Gene in a different uniform!

We'll grill hamburgers and hotdogs and Kevin promises to get there early and have the coals hot when you arrive. Please bring side dishes and desserts. Unless you like rootbeer, you should bring your own drinks, too (non-alcoholic, of course). It also might be advisable to have a lawn chair in your trunk.

Even if you failed to sign up, you can still come. We particularly want to see some of our associate members -- just so we know what you look like! Bring $10, your picnic goodies, and your family for a great afternoon of fellowship and food. If you have questions, please call or email:

SPOTnik and CAMPING Updates!!!

SPOTnik Update!!!

The SPOTnik picnic this Sunday is at the Hitzert Shelter in Fenton City Park. For a map to the park click on the map to the right of the blog! The shelter is the one behind the main shelter, near the soccer fields. One important note...unless you want root beer (which we still have left over!) be sure and bring your own drinks! Meat, utensils, will be provided, and every one has signed up for either a side dish or desert! IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SIGN UP!!!! If you want to come just send an email to spotspot@gmx.com!!!

Camping Update!!!

The dates chosen for next year's camping trip do indeed interfere with the high school mission trip! So, after much research, the new dates will be two weeks earlier on June 11-13, 2010. All area schools will be out, and graduations over, with the bonus of it being a bit cooler!

Lesson Recap

Today we covered more of the Legacy of the 20th Century Family. We identified the following profiles:

Profile Four: Parents, intimidated by the future, are forcing their children to grow up too fast.

Profile Five: 21st century families will be handicapped by the 20th century inventions of adolescence and mandatory retirement!

Profile Six: Future families will be weakened by an entire generation that was educated in an environment that did not recognize moral absolutes.

Profile Seven: Families are embracing the success fantasy.

Remember that rest is a choice. Scripture references Mt. 1 18:4-6, Isaiah 5:20-21, Mt. 6:31-33

SPOTnik

As has been mentioned here and elsewhere many times, the class picnic is next Sunday after class at Fenton Park. The shelter is different this year, and is the shelter behind the softball fields. Cost is $10 per family...and bring either a dessert or a side dish. REMEMBER THAT YOU DON"T HAVE TO ATTEND SUNDAY CLASS TO COME!!!! WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU!!! Just be sure and RSVP if you haven't already so that we know how much meat to purchase!

SPOT Camping Trip

YES. We know it's early...but the date for next years camping trip has been set (pending no high school mission trip on these dates!) The dates will be June 25-27. The location will be different this trip. We are looking at a three bedroom house with the ability to camp on the grounds.

Advantages:
It's private!
The house can sleep 10!! (tents outside are unlimited!)
Indoor bathrooms (2) and shower (1)!
Full fire pit, smoker, and 2 bar-b-que pits!
Fishing on small private lake!!
Trout fishing at Bennett Spring State Park (nearby)!!
Floating the gentle Niangua River!

Disadvantages:
Other than the limited number of bathrooms...I can't come up with anything!

PRAYER REQUEST

Connie Maloy's sister , Norma Cunningham, and her family need our prayers. She was diagnosed with ALS today, after several months of dealing with symptoms. She's no longer able to swallow, as the disease is rather progressed. She has not been told how long the doctors figure she will live. They suspect it will not be long, given the quick decline her health has taken over the last 6 months. Norma's 69 & a strong Christian, yet they're struggling with the news.

This Sunday is Part 4 of our video series The Hurried Family, Help for the Hurried Home.   In this edition, Tim Kimmel discusses how we've jammed more responsibilities into a shorter window of our lives, while assigning both our teenagers and our seniors, like bookends,  to holding patterns of life with few responsibilities or relevance.  Prep for class by reading Matthew 18:4-6 and 6:31-33 and Isaiah 5:20-21.

 

Class discussion follows and we'll share our experiences of trying to spend time each day talking to other members of our family.

Prayer List

Zenobia Perry's team, Ryan's Rappers, raised over $12,000 at last week's Autism Speaks walk in Forest Park.  Look for photos and other highlights on Zenobia's website,   www.zenobiaperry.com.

Kevin Hurt is recovering from tests earlier this week and hopes to know the results late next week so he and the doctors can determine a treatment plan.

Ginger LaRowe's Aunt Mary was near death at this writing.  Pray for Gin's mother, her brother and fellow SPOTclass member Phil Stewart and her sister Jeanne (from Kansas City) who will accompany their mom to Virginia for the funeral. 

We're thankful Ginger's plague this week was not the Pig Flu. 

 

 

SPOTclass Summer Activities Planned

 

SPOTclass will camp and float again in 2010!  Three families participated in last year's weekend outing in southeast Missouri and we're hoping to double the numbers this year.

SPOT Picnic

As we have been announcing, the SPOT picnic is 10/25/09 (instead of our monthly SPOT lunch!). It will be at Fenton Park. The Cost is $10 per family (to pay for the meat,supplies, and shelter). You will also need to bring a desert or a side dish. You can sign up and pay with Kevin or Susan Hurt! We will also need to know whether you are bringing a dessert or a side dish! 4. The church encourages it.
5. Our egos demand it.

Take a look at Matt 5: 6, which outlines the life of the contented person and contrast it to the hurried lifestyle in I John 2:16. We are encouraged to turn our back on conformity to the world's mindset in Romans 12:2, and to be transformed to God's way of thinking!

Well, our Root Beer SPOT was a huge success. In fact, we sold out of the popular treats! Despite a brisk, windy day in which almost everything was taped down, it was a blast! The LaRowe's, the Bradshaw's, the Phillip's and the Hurt's scooped out almost 300 floats.

HOLY COW Root Beer Float Booth


We're out to make even Harry Caray proud (posthumously?) when SPOTclass hosts the Holy Cow Root Beer Float booth at the annual Concord Fall Festival this Saturday, beginning at 4 p.m. We have lots of fun, serve lots of floats and even sip some of the suds ourselves.
We're still looking for volunteers to staff (to man sounds so chauvinistic) the booth, but if you can't help out for an hour or two, be sure to stop by and place your order. You'll want to take a picture with a coonskin hat and a cup of cheer.

Don't Hurry, but don't be late either!


The video series "The Hurried Family" Help for the Hurried Home continues this week.
In session 2, Tim Kimmel (who wears really cool glasses) discusses The Lure of the Hurried Lifestyle and gives us five reasons why a hurried life is still appealing, even though it wears us out.
Brooks LaRowe will facilitate a class discussion after the video and we'll find out who went to bed early this week or at least scheduled a quiet night. We'll assume that anyone with their head on their table when the lights come up probably is still sleep-deprived.
For an advance look at the real expert's advice on this subject, read Matthew 5:6; Romans 12:2 or I John 2:16.
Even if you haven't been to class for a while, you just might want to audit this series -- assuming you can work it into your busy schedule.

• One of Brooks' clients is recovering from a stroke on the heels of a TIA, and Tuesday he awoke to discover his 61-year-old spouse had died in her sleep.
• Pray for ministries of associate SPOT members who cannot attend class (maybe they'll join us at the SPOTnik).
• Remember Don and Lori as they return from Denver with Lori's parents this weekend.

Today we started the video series on the Hurried Family. Talk about timely! I think everyone in class related to today's topic, which was "In Search of Peace and Quiet".

We learned about the 7 characteristics of a Hurried Family:

1) They can't relax.

2) They can't enjoy quiet.

3) They seldom feel satisfied.

4) They lack moral absolutes.

5) They serve for the wrong reasons.

6) They are intimidated by fear and worry.

7) They live for the rewards of success.

The lesson closed out looking at Mt. 11:28-29

The class went out on the monthly SPOT lunch today. The LaRowe's, the Hurt, the Bradshaw's, and the Massey's enjoyed fellowship and bar-b-que at Bandanas! Remember, next month the SPOT lunch will be our annual fall class picnic at Fenton Park. The date for that is 10/25. Mark your calendars and we will see you there!

Video Series Starts This Week

If you meet yourself coming and going, you won't want to miss the new SPOTclass video series, The Hurried Family -- Help for the Hurried Home.

The series is moderated by Tim Kimmel, author of the best-selling book Little House on the Freeway. Kimmel has a very insightful and entertaining perspective on our lives of busy-ness. Most importantly, he discusses what the Bible says about priorities and shows us how they apply to our busy lives.

Brooks LaRowe will be leading class discussion this week, but Don Robbins will return to take his rightful place in that role Oct. 11. The video series runs 10 weeks and takes us right up to our Christmas Bible Study lessons.

Remember those trick pictures you used to show your kids before they became teenagers? You know, two virtually identical photos and you had to pick out the differences. Well, SPOTclass is sort of like that. While most everything looks and feels the same, there are significant changes to look for.
• Our new class director is Kevin Hurt. Kevin has stepped up to fill the SPOT recently vacated by Rusty Phillips -- welcome to the executive suite, Kevin! Rusty can fill you in on the perks.

• Class communications will undergo some significant improvements with the creation of The S.P.O.T.spot. Take a look at this new class SPOT by clicking this link, www.thespotsspot.blogspot.com. This site will allow us to communicate with you more quickly, especially urgent prayer requests. Kevin will explain how it all works this week and, over the next few months, you'll discover how this integrated communications site will help us all stay connected.

SPOTlunch this week

This week, SPOTlunch will be at Bandana's Barbecue in Sunset Hills. The restaurant is located on Gravois Road, just west of Lindbergh, behind Sunset Ford. Bandana's features a wide variety of really good barbecue beef, pork, chicken and sides. Everything there is great, except maybe the boiled peanuts. I suppose they're good, too, if you like that kind of thing! Don't miss this opportunity to SMELL THAT SMOKE and share a great time with us.

Prayer Requests

• Mark and Dani Cotter's son Zach will be moving out of a dangerous neighborhood by the end of October. Pray for his continued safety until the move.

• Ryan Spitz will undergo surgery Friday after a procedure Sunday to re-inflate a collapsed lung. Pray for his complete recovery.

• Janice Meinhardt's daughter started a chemo drug for Sjogren's to try and lower her white blood cell count.

• Pray that doctors can get to the bottom of the pain that has sent Ronda Bradshaw to the hospital twice over the last few months.

• Don, Lori and Rebecca Robbins are flying to Denver Friday to pack up Lori's parents and bring them back to St. Louis permanently. Pray for their safety and wise decision-making.

• Kevin Hurt will undergo neck/back surgery soon to relieve pain that has been plaguing him for months.

• Remember Don Robbins' friend John and his church in St. Charles. John has been homeless and living at the church and, in the meantime, attendance at the small church has dwindled to only 30-40 regular attenders.

• Zenobia Perry is recovering at home after surgery on her elbow and wrist.

• Keep praying for the Hauffs as they cope with the death of Jeff's mother and niece.

• Remember the family, classmates, teachers and coaches of the Eureka football player who collapsed and died during a practice recently. Dave Borzillo, a Concord member, is a coach at Eureka.

• Concord Christmas show auditions are this Sunday, Sept. 27. Are we praying for lots of folks to audition or for class members to get good roles?

Women should take note of the Treasure Seekers Women's Bible Study. It all starts with an informational brunch on Wednesday, September 9th at 9 AM in the Atrium. This will be a weekly program for women of all ages seeking to deepen their spiritual walk by studying God's word!

Once again, another great lesson today from Don on bearing one another's burdens.  There was some wonderful insight into this aspect of the "one another's"!  This lesson also concluded this study of the 11th commandment!
