SPOTmail Update!

SPOTmail
Lesson Prep - Crazy Love 4

Let's get together and have a lukewarm cup of tea.  Now, doesn't that sound delicious?

OK, so you prefer coffee -- room temperature doesn't work for that beverage, either!  What is it about lukewarm that's so distasteful?  We like our drinks ice-cold or scalding hot.  No one orders lukewarm anything.  Heck, even Jesus revealed his dislike for lukewarm.  Basically he said, "I like it hot or cold, but lukewarm I will spew out of my mouth."  You know, of course, he was not talking about food or drinks -- he was talking to you and me.

What does it look like to be a lukewarm Christian?  In chapter 4 of Crazy Love, author Francis Chan answers that question.  We will discuss it Sunday.

By the way, the reason we all have microwaves in our kitchens is because we do not like anything lukewarm!

See you Sunday,
Don

Editors' Disclaimer

Unfortunately, SPOTmail was a casualty of the editors' schedule this week.  The last month of the last kid's last year in high school is proving to be a little hectic.  Hopefully, the schedule is more manageable next week.

The Sunday Update on Tuesday!!!

Due to some technical difficulties, this Sunday update is now appearing on Tuesday. Apologies to all!

Lesson Recap

Wow.  Was this ever a tough lesson to recap!  But here goes...
"Love is the Theme" was the subject for this lesson.

dad and DAD- We looked at how author Chan's view of his father as he grew up really affected his view of God once he had accepted Christ.  He transferred a lot of his feelings from his father toward his relationship with his Father, meaning he did his best not to annoy or upset Him.  Once that all changed for him he was...

In Love With the One I Fear-  What does this statement make you think of?  It comes down to the massiveness of God, and our love for him.

Wanted-  God wants us.  Simple as that.  Sometimes it can be hard for us to accept.  Jeremiah1:6-10 shows how we need not fear failure.  Remember that God knew us before he made us!  God really longs for us!

A strange Inheritance-  We are Jesus' inheritance.  Read Ephesians 1:18.  God treasures us!  God doesn't need us...but he wants us.

Conclusion: Our love for God always comes out of His love for us.
