The Friday Mid-Week Update

Since it has been a bit since I have kept up with the Blog, upon signing in there was a lot of unmoderated comments and a bit of other housekeeping to take care of.  As a result, this is a little later getting out than I intended.


Class Director

As has been announced I am stepping down as class director.  Solo...someone else needs to step up! I will stay on for a few weeks as interim, but we do really need someone to accept the position.

A Personal Note
 
 
As I announced last week, I am stepping down as the director of the SPOT class for personal reasons.  So the class will need a new director...any volunteers? I will gladly give the new director all of the info I have, in addition to the ability to keep up this blog and email updates.  I will still coordinate the camping trip this year. I hope many will prayerfully becoming the new director.

The Mid-Week Update

Finally!!!  Back up and running.  Software has been re-installed, passwords recovered....and all is back up!  (Email seems to be back, as well.   I trimmed it up a bit .If I have missed you just let me know!) Sorry about all the fuss, but it all appears rearing to go now!  Be ready for Chapter 23 in The Story for our Sunday lesson.


Baseball Tickets
 
Once again this year, Brad Slinkard has baseball tickets for sale. The game is Friday June 21st against the Texas Rangers. Lance Berkman returns for his first game since leaving the Cardinals. Tickets have a face value of $41.00 but selling for $17.00 per ticket.  Contact Brad if you are interested.

The Mid-WeekUpdate

Not a whole lot to catch up on here!  Due to the weather last week all 11:00am activities were cancelled...that included us!  This week will be Easter, so I will hope to see everyone there!

The Mid-Week Update

Slightly late this week (better than last week...when I forgot :)), getting ready for out of town company for a wedding on Saturday! Big thanks to Rusty for leading us in our study last week!

 Palm Sunday is this week as we take a break from The Story for Easter!  This will be a short blog entry as not much will be happening, but be sure and remember the Holy week schedule.  There are some neat services happening for both Good Friday and a sunrise service on Easter!

Lori's Dad

Lori Robbins' dad passed away this morning.  A memorial service will be held at Crosspoint Church at the intersection of I-55 and Butler Hill Rd at 2PM this Sunday. Please keep their entire family in your prayers.

  • Zenobia says they have hired three new caretakers for her dad, starting this week and next.  They had a team meeting, and she felt good about the selection.  Thank God for her sister who helps her.
  • Pray for Ed's wife.  Her back is not getting better.  Also, pray for wisdom when buying her new hearing aids.
  • Kevin had his shoulder procedure on Tuesday.  It's rather painful, but hopefully will alleviate the need for surgery.
  • Pray for the growth and stability of Concord. 
  • Continued prayers for Lori and Don and their family as they deal with Lori's dad's hospice.

The Late Mid-Week Update

Finally got my computer back up to full speed. Emails have all been transferred (lots of typing:)).  The lesson to be learned here is NEVER, EVER play with your startups! Anywho....many thanks to Phil for stepping into the "Don" chair for this weeks lesson.

...will be here soon!  Making it's 2013 appearance on 3/3, it is brownie heaven.  The concept is simple.  Make your favorite recipe of brownie (box or scratch) , then bring a few to share with the class!  That's it!  Please do plan to make a note if your brownie contains nuts or not, for those of us who avoid them.  Milk will be provided.
 
 
Camping Trip Meeting
 
The short meeting that was cancelled last week regarding this years excursion will be held this week after class.  It will be short!  We will be looking at the date, and the options for locations we have so that I can investigate further.

  • 4 possible caretakers have been found for Zenobia's dad in Houston.  Pray God guides in which is best for him and her mom.
  • Kevin partially tore his rotator cuff.  Looks like a new injection therapy is going to be tried before surgery will be considered.  He was however, taken off of insulin this week!
  • Jeff  Bradshaw's brother is still recovering from his stroke, but is back to work part time and is doing well.
  • Pam Stanfield's back is getting worse.  Disc problems are forcing the use of a walker, which isn't helping a lot.
  • Continued prayers for Lori's dad, who was in ICU in critical condition.

The Howards

Just received this from Terresa Howard:

Please pray the bank and title co will work things out over a single piece of paper the title co wants and the bank doesn't want to supply. This could delay us a couple weeks and we have things organized and deposits made for Thursday. As it stands we will load the truck on Thursday evening starting between 5 and 6 unless my husband can get here any earlier. will finish on Friday morning and stop at the bank to sign papers and then head out .  Any help will be greatly appreciated and prayers for the title bank situation are a must. you guys have been a great encouragement to me thank you

The Mid-Week Update!!!

Well...after a great lesson (as usual) from Don, many of us gathered at the Hurt homestead to watch the Super Bowl.  We had a great time of fellowship, fun, and general yelling at the TV.  Next week it is back to the Story, as this will put us back in line with the rest of the church!

  • Praise/Thanksgiving -- From the Phillips': Christina likes school in Abilene.  Marie had a good first week of student teaching.  


  • Health -- Rusty's co-worker Bob Dichiara is being treated for Stage 3 pancreatic cancer.

  • Others -- Marie Phillips' boyfriend Steven came to visit on Friday (1/18) for the weekend.  On Saturday morning, his father died suddenly.  Marie and Steven drove to South Bend, Indiana.  Please pray for him and his family.

    • Bob DiChiara (friend and colleague of Rusty's) just diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer.
    • The Howards have a closing date of 2/28.  They move out 2/24.
    • JT is still in physical therapy and is seeing a specialist this week.
    • Terresa still waiting for hire date in TN at Wal-Mart Pharmacy.
